I've stopped playing World of Warcraft myself, but people seem to find the below information helpful. You can comment and add to it if you'd like.
I'm attempting to compile information about pets in world of warcraft. Choosing the right pet in world of warcraft can make all the difference for the succesfull hunter. I'd like to let everyone know which pets are the best and which have what special abilities. If you know a better source of information or have more info please post it here.
Forest Striders have cower
Bears, up to level 26 have claw
Bite can be picked up from some cats
Growl can be learnd from various pet trainers, and levels 1 and 2 are picked up somewhere.
I haven't seen any definitive use of cower or growl yet, probably because they're both enabled and cancel each other out. I would suggest right clicking on the one you don't want at the time.
Pet abilities are taught using the Pet teaching icon under the general tab of your abilities.
Pet abilities are learned by getting a new pet with an ability and killing one mob. You can then teach this ability to other pets with sufficient training points
